NOTD: Flowers & Dots

Flowers & Dots NOTD

I absolutely love this nail design. And no, I didn't draw it myself; I use nail foils (or nail stickers/ wraps/ whatever you call them). I'm still not too adept at pasting them though, I'll have to practice more! I'll think of ways to use the remaining floral ones from this series, they're too pretty to go to waste and I have quite a few left.

Anyway, I think this design is great for any season, and the colours are really flattering for any skin tone too! Love this. <3

30 Aug '14 COSMO x GUESS 'On the road to Nashville' Party!

I was lucky enough to win invites to this event thanks to Cosmopolitian SG. :) This party was to celebrate the launch of GUESS's Nashville collection (demin lovers rejoice!). My friend and I had lots of fun there and here are some highlights excluding the food which I, unfortunately, didn't get to take pictures of.

Fashion presentation with tips on styling denim.

Love GUESS's cute decor, Nashville-style.

Here's the denim customisation section, but I didn't buy any denim so I didn't try my hand on this. It did look fun though, and I think it was a great idea for GUESS to let customers personalise their denim pieces!

Every guest received a SGD$50 GUESS discount card and I spent mine on this cute silver necklace. :)

How can I forget the NARS lip bar? Loved having my lips professionally done by their makeup artists; I'll be sure to check out the brand's lip collection sometime soon!

And... that's it from me for this event! Once again, it's such a pity I didn't get pictures of the food! I really enjoyed the cheesecake hehe. (hashtag foodie xP)

RAVE & FAVE: E.L.F. Blush and Bronzing Cream + Pro Bronzing Brush

I’ll be reviewing these two products in one post since I love to use them together. :) And these are probably two of the most popular E.L.F. products that many people love. Now, I don't use blush or bronzer all that often but when I do, these are the products that I reach for!

E.L.F. Blush & Bronzing Cream // Professional Bronzing Brush

First off, on the left is a cream blusher and bronzer from the E.L.F. Studio line. They come in a sleek palette with a really useful mirror as well. It is really affordable and retails at SGD$9, which, for the amount of product and good packaging is a great buy!

The colours are quite pigmented and they apply really easily so application is a breeze! You can use your fingers, a sponge or a brush. I usually use a brush as mentioned, because I find it easier to blend. The colours are buildabe so I recommend starting off with just a little bit of the product and then building the colour up to the intensity that you want.

E.L.F. Professional Bronzing Brush

I use the E.L.F. Bronzing Brush to apply, and it is angled to fit into the contours of your cheeks. This is from the regular line, not the studio one so it is quite inexpensive and costs about SGD$7 if I remember correctly. The bristles are not as soft as I would like, but for the price, it is a practical and handy brush to have that gets the job done.

I definitely recommend checking these out and if you've got any other E.L.F. products to recommend, do let me know in the comments too, I'd love to try out more from this brand!:)

RAVE & FAVE: Victoria’s Secret Make It Last

Victoria’s Secret is typically known for their lingerie line but here I’ll be reviewing something from their makeup collection and something that I really enjoy using. :)

VS Make It Last Prime & Set Makeup Spray
(pic credits here)

This is makeup setting spray from Victoria’s Secret really impressed me. It extends the wear of makeup without compromising the original quality and texture. With a light spritz, your powder foundation isn’t going to un-mattify with this spray. After the setting spray dries, your powder foundation/ blush/ whatever is still going to look like powder makeup, matte and all, just with longer wear.

Conversely, this also means that you can’t count on this spray to give you much of a dewy finish if you have put on powder makeup. This cannot really create a dewy effect unless you use a massive amount (read: spam), so do use another product if you are going for that dewy look.

Just as with powder products, this setting spray works well for liquid foundation and other liquid makeup too. But liquid makeup is not going to be as transfer-resistant as powder, so even with this setting spray, be sure to finish off with a powder to keep your makeup in place all day long. (I’ve reviewed one of my fave powders here: HD Powder)

Overall, the Victoria’s Secret setting spray has worked great for me, extending the wear of my makeup and making it more transfer-resistant. I highly recommend trying this out! It retails at about SGD$24 but I’m not sure if you can get it in Victoria’s Secret outlets here; I got mine online. Either way, do give it a go!
